Founded by Julio Hernandez with over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Golden Vista began as a dream to bring personalized, high-quality renovations to Surrey and White Rock families. Today, we continue that mission with every project we take on.

Founder, Golden Vista Construction
Julio Hernandez
I’m a husband first, a father second, and a proud dog owner. I’m also a son, the eldest of five siblings, and an uncle to five amazing nieces and nephews. Family has always been at the center of who I am and how I live my life.
I was born in El Salvador and came to Canada in 1990 with my family as a result of the civil war. From a very young age, I learned the value of hard work. At just eight years old, I was helping my mom collect payments for the clothing and shoes she sold on credit. By eleven, I was selling bread. Work wasn’t something I was told to do it was simply part of life.
When we first arrived in Canada, my parents sent my sister and I to order McDonald’s because I “knew English.” The truth is… I only knew the numbers. Somehow, we made it work and it’s still something we laugh about today.
Some of my first jobs here included berry picking (which, if I’m being honest, I enjoyed eating more than picking), delivering the Vancouver Sun and The Province, and eventually working at McDonald’s. Each experience shaped my work ethic and taught me responsibility early on.
I was raised Catholic by very devoted parents and was actively involved in church through youth groups. Like many people, I went through a period in my teenage years and early adulthood where I made some poor decisions that led me down a difficult path. There was also a time when I stepped away from faith altogether and identified as an atheist.
But God had other plans for me.
Through what I strongly believe were my mother’s prayers and God’s grace, I was able to turn my life around. In 2017, I began my sobriety journey. Since then, I’ve built a life that I’m proud of a life where I can look in the mirror and truly respect the person I see. Today, I’ve returned to church, and my faith continues to guide me, especially as I raise my son and want him to grow up knowing God.
For most of my life, I never saw myself getting married or having children. That changed in 2018 when I met my wife, Brenda my soulmate. We were married in 2021, welcomed our dog Mylov shortly after, and last year we were blessed with our son. Today, they are my world, and I can’t imagine life without them.
Professionally, my journey started in a warehouse, where I spent about eight years and even got hands-on experience building custom crates, which introduced me to carpentry. From there, I spent 15 years with a large construction company, where I had the opportunity to work on incredible projects like the Vancouver Convention Centre and the BC Place roof.
During that time, I was also given the opportunity to travel across British Columbia overseeing renovation projects. That’s where something clicked for me. While large-scale construction projects can take years, I found a deep appreciation for renovations, being able to see a project transform from start to finish in a shorter timeframe and witnessing the immediate impact it had on the clients.
That passion led me to start Golden Vista Construction in 2021.
For me, this business isn’t just about building beautiful spaces. It’s about creating an experience for homeowners, one that is clear, honest, and respectful from start to finish. I know firsthand how important trust is when someone is working inside your home, and I don’t take that lightly.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, traveling, road trips, hosting family and friends, and most of all seeing the smile on a client’s face when their project is complete. That moment never gets old.

Co-Founder & Marketing Director
Brenda Hernandez
Hi, I’m Brenda.
My story began in a way that deeply shaped who I am today. I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand after my parents fled Cambodia, and later raised in Chilliwack. Our family was sponsored by the Vancouver Anglican Church group, along with a loving family in Chilliwack who welcomed and supported us - relationships we still cherish and keep close to this day. Those early experiences grounded me in resilience, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for community - values that continue to guide both my life and my work.
As the eldest of three siblings, I grew up learning independence early on. I’ve always been someone who takes initiative, and that carried into my work life where I often balanced more than one job at a time. For me, it was never just about staying busy - it was about growth, stability, and building something meaningful for myself and my family.
I’ve spent over 22 years in the dental field, where I built a strong foundation in organization, communication, and client care. Along the way, I discovered a passion for marketing - especially in social media, branding, and creating genuine connections. I also bring experience in administration, management, and Human Resources, and I truly enjoy learning and evolving every day.
As Co-Founder of Golden Vista Construction, I bring that same care and attention to detail into every client experience. I love working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly, while helping clients feel supported, informed, and genuinely excited throughout their renovation journey.
A few fun facts about me - my first “official” job was at a Neighbourhood House in East Vancouver at 15, working as a summer day camp leader. I met a friend there, and we didn’t reconnect until 20 years later… when she ended up introducing my now husband and I. It’s amazing how life reconnects people in the most unexpected and meaningful ways.
But if I’m being honest, my real first job was berry picking - something I genuinely loved (yes, good old child labour), mostly because all my friends were there too. I’ve always enjoyed being around hardworking people, and I’ve been fortunate to learn from some truly inspiring bosses along the way. In between my full-time roles, I also worked at a mini donut concession stand - still one of the sweetest and most memorable side jobs I’ve ever had.
In high school, I worked in retail at Jacob, and after graduation, I worked for an art company while completing my Dental Administrative Program. By 26, while working between two dental offices, I proudly purchased my first home - a milestone that meant so much to me. I had always envisioned creating a space where people could gather, feel welcome, and simply enjoy being together.
Outside of work, I’m happily married and grateful to work alongside my husband, Julio. With our young son and our dog, Mylov, we love hiking, traveling, and spending time together as a family. Creating warm, welcoming spaces isn’t just something I enjoy at home - it’s something I bring into every part of my work: thoughtful, organized, and always centered around connection.
